URAP welcomed recent SDIR briefing on the current situation in the “Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.”

The twelve-member group of the Standing Committee on the Foreign Affairs and the International Development questioned the GOC (Government of Canada) representatives during 2-hour long session yesterday on March 28, 2022. 

On behalf of the Uyghur-Canadian diaspora, URAP (Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project) would like to express our gratitude towards the members of SDIR for their continuous engagement and solidarity with the plight of the Uyghur people, who are currently facing the ongoing genocide under the CCP’s (Chinese Communist Party) brutality. 

URAP would to call for the implementation of the fifteen-points recommendations put forward by SDIR:

 We ask Honorable MPs to exert pressure on the executive branch of the government to fulfill the will of the Canadian public delivered by their elected officials to prevent the importation of the merchandise into Canada tainted by the Uyghur Slave Force, recognise the Uyghur Genocide, and to create “an exceptional streamflow of Uyghur refugees into Canada” among other recommendations.

We salute your persistent dedication to the of Uyghurs including those in Canada who are intimidated and harassed by the Chinese state. We call upon our esteem Members of the Parliament to familiarize themselves with the recent report prepared by the URAP entitled “Intended and Unending – A Report on China’s Transnational Harassment and Intimidation Campaign Against Uyghur-Canadians”:
