URAP welcomes Ms. Miri Teich to its team

August 1, 2022

URAP is pleased to welcome Ms. Miri Teich to our team as the Public Policy and Advocacy Director working to advance our program objectives.

Miri is a certified international mediator with a background in public policy and human rights. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in Religion, Literature and the Arts, and a Master of Arts (magna cum laude) from Tel Aviv University in Public Policy, Conflict Resolution and Mediation.

She has previously worked with governments and NGOs on community and consensus-building, and was recently involved in interviewing and assisting victims of terror and mass crime abroad in navigating conflict with service institutions. This work informed a published paper with the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime.

She has a background working in the fight against China’s ongoing crimes of genocide, and has worked with prominent Canadian legal professionals including international human rights lawyers Sarah Teich & David Matas, C.M, on projects related to the Uyghur genocide, atrocities in Tigray, and other human rights projects.

She has worked on a number of publications, including the Canadian Security Research Group’s joint publication with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute on Chinese and Iranianliability in international and domestic law for their part in spreading COVID-19; and a policy brief with Tel Aviv University to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and Diplomatic Academy offering recommendations to strengthen peacebuilding institutions including trade and governance in Azerbaijan through ad hoc and a priori measures.

Miri also currently works as a community and workplace mediator and is pursuing independent research on the relationship of victims of genocide and other mass crime to the conflict resolution process.

URAP is looking forward to working together with Ms. Miriam Teich to enrich the existing capacity of URAP and the ambitious goals of its global campaign.
